Rev. Dr. Stephen Tucker
As founding pastor of
New Commandment
Baptist Church (DC) and
president/co-founder of Jobs Partnership
Greater Washington, Rev. Dr. Tucker
has specialized in ex-offender reentry for
nearly two decades. His extraordinary
leadership has led to speaking engagements,
nationwide, for such renowned
institutions as: the Brookings Institute;
the Washington National Press Club; the
US State Department; the Transition of
Prisoners National Conference; the
COPS (Community Oriented Policing
Services) National Conference; and the
White House Faith-Based Conference
on Reentry. Rev. Dr. Tucker also has
received the George Shultz Award for
Community Service, presented by Colin
Powell. Since 2001, his church has partnered
with the Court Services Offender
Supervision Agency in their Faith-
Reentry Initiative, and has been the
recipient of a 3-year, $400,000 grant as
a partner with the U.S. Justice Department’s
Value-Based Reentry Initiative.
